Marie keeps you up to date with all the big country news and gigs (Read out between 18:30 – 18:40) as well as playing the best new tracks and albums and some old favourites too.
To ensure a diverse mix of artists and styles birthday features are included each week and sometimes a songwriter spotlight.
She prides herself on finding the more obscure but quality artists from around the world which embrace both Country, Bluegrass, Americana and singer-songwriters.
Unlike other shows which heavily feature male artists Marie is a strong supporter of “Women of Country”

Marie listened to lots of different music before falling in love with country music in the mid 1990s.
It was definitely not cool to be a teenager and into country, but she was happy to be different.
A huge fan of Country and Western music, Marie lists Reba McEntire, Lorrie Morgan and Tanya Tucker as a few of her favourite artists, alongside harmony groups like The Sweethearts of the Rodeo.

Marie’s Favourite Country artist of all time: Tanya Tucker
Favourite Male Artists: Garth Brooks & George Jones
Favourites Country Duo’s: The Judds and Joey+Rory
Catch Phrase - “I need to offer you a weepy warning”

In her spare time, as well as going to gigs, Marie is a Beaver Scout leader... and just to make sure the hat doesn't go to waste, she also enjoys line dancing and is a keen lover of Theatre productions.

Her first 6 pilot shows were broadcast in September 2002. Some of the first artists she played were Chely Wright, Matraca Berg, Gary Burr, Gretchen Peters ("On A Bus To St.Cloud"), Teresa.com ("the College Crowd"), Harley L.Allen, Deborah Allen (Birthday feature) and The Dixie Chicks "Travelling Soldier".

She then returned on March 12, 2003 opening up with Pam Tillis' "It Isn't Just Raining" and Chely Wright's ("She went Out For Cigarettes"). Her "Cross Country" radio show continued right through to March 2005 when unfortunately station funding, equipment and Internet server issues became a major problem. During those years a happy band of regular listeners joined the chat room each week even linking up with some songwriters live from Nashville!

In May 2005 Marie took over the Country Show on BBC Radio Shropshire (Mondays 7-9pm), which for her was a dream come true.
Her first show for the BBC was on 6th June 2005 which also was a tri-cast broadcast being heard additionally on BBC Radio Stoke and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
Her first spins were Maria McKee "I've Forgotten What It Was In You" and Blue Country's "That Summer Feeling" (Curb) rounding out the 2 hours with  Patty Loveless "On Your Way Home".

She was to hit the bulls eye once more a year later snagging the award for the second year running celebrating on Sunday Feb 3, 2008.
